On Wednesday 20th February 2013 Shri Narendra Modi hailed the 2013-14 Budget presented in the Gujarat Vidhan Sabha by Finance Minister Shri Nitinbhai Patel. Shri Narendra Modi said that this is the first budget presented by the new Government after being re-elected and the budget shows that the Gujarat Government is committed to progress of Gujarat and is also determined to increase the pace of development in the state. “We want to take the fruits of development to the villages, to the poor and that is clear from this Budget.”

The Chief Minister said that if one is to view the plan and non-plan expenditure of the Budgets of Centre and the Budget of the Gujarat Government, they are pictures in contrast. “In their case, 65% of the wealth is spent on running the Government whereas only 35% is spent on development. In our case it is the opposite. 65% is spent on development while 35% spent on running the Government,” and said that due to this the development in Gujarat is possible.

Shri Modi affirmed that the Budget will create confidence, make the youth active partners in the development process and is an extremely progressive budget on issues related to development of women, the poor and the issue of malnutrition.

  • Alok Sharma March 27, 2013 Modi ji Happy Holi. Please don’t go for solar photo voltaic and csp as being done in Gujarat and India at present as this type of solar power costs Rs 15 per unit up ward which will be fatal in case of poor India and will be wrong for Gujarat which is a power surplus state . Then what to do with infinite solar energy? Please note that use of this infinite energy directly as heat , light and steam is free and can be adopted in our poor nation . Gujarat is second most sunny state and can use solar heat light and steam for cooking , water heating , dehydration of food , distillation , steam making and using that steam for scores of purposes including community/hotel/party/apartment level cooking/water heating/many industries , direct day time lighting and heating by solar windows and walls. To conserve energy all buildings can be made solar passive . These measures can save billions of kWh in Gujarat to export the same to other states and can make India energy secured rich nation.
