Chief Minister inaugurates Doshion’s Pacific GRP pipe unit at Sanand

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated India's largest Glass fiber reinforced polyester(GRP) pipe manufacturing facility, Pacific Pipe Systems Pvt. Ltd(PPSPL), located near Sanand, on the outskirts of Ahmedabad in 30 Acre campus on State Highway 17 connecting Ahmedabad to Kandla port.

The plant initially has a capacity to produce 800kms of GRP pipes of average diameter 600mm. GRP is a corrosion-free and durable alternative to Steel/Ductile iron pipes.

Pacific pipes will produce pipes in 100 to 3000 mm diameter range, in standard lengths of 12 meters and pressure ranging from 1 to 32 kg/cm2. The pipes are used in raw drinking water supply, sewerage mains and storm water drains, pen stocks & cooling water lines in power plants, seawater intake, rehabilitation using trenchless technologies and river linking and irrigation pumping.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashit Doshi, Chairman PPSPL said the Doshion group intends to achieve Rs 2750 crore turnover by fiscal year 2013-14. “If a country like France with 6.5 crore population can give world's no.1 water management company, our state Gujarat with 5.5 crore people can surely aims to give no.1 company in the same field,” said Doshi.

“We have completed this greenfield plant within 8 months. Water can't be imported or generated but only managed. We are excited to be in this field,” he added.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi who was the chief guest in the function said, “MOU for this plant was signed just before 9 months and here is the plant, ready for production. This speed of implementation if commendable and this can only happen in Gujarat.”

“India needs to work seriously on Agricultural infrastructure. This pipe plant is one of the steps in this direction, ” Modi added.

The function was professionally managed, vibrant and colorful with live Jazz band, air-hostess like girls serving food and beverages among audience, a large air-conditioned tent with red carpet, an excellent exhibition area, professionally handled lunch areas, view gallery to have a glimpse of the plant from one single point and presence of many dignitaries including Gautam Adani(Adani group) and Pankaj Patel(Zydus Cadila) in audience.Also present were Rajya Sabha MP Surendra Patel, Karnavati Club's Girish Dani, Minister for water supply Nitin Patel, Ex minister Kaushik Patel, IK Jadeja and many government officers.

PM to inaugurate 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth on 15th January

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) on 15th January 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, Parliament House Complex, New Delhi. Prime Minister will also address the gathering on the occasion.

The Conference will be chaired by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla and will be attended by 61 Speakers and Presiding Officers of 42 Commonwealth countries and 4 semi-autonomous parliaments from different parts of the world.

The Conference will deliberate on a wide range of contemporary parliamentary issues, including the role of Speakers and Presiding Officers in maintaining strong democratic institutions, the use of artificial intelligence in parliamentary functioning, the impact of social media on Members of Parliament, innovative strategies to enhance public understanding of Parliament and citizen participation beyond voting, among others.
