Emphasizing and using the Power of Knowledge

Gujarat has embarked on the modern path of progress through Gyanshakti, one of the five nectors of Panchamrut Shakti. Vision Gujarat is Literacy and creating the 21st Century Knowledge Society.

Bhane Gujarat, Jite Gujarat, the theme of ‘Knowledge is Power’ has reached every nook and corner of Gujarat. The journey of Shala Praveshotsav, Kanya Kelavani and Gunotsav that began a decade ago, have shown signs of success with more and more enrolment in schools around the State, and a remarkable increase in literacy. Shri Narendra Modi led the Team Gujarat – the entire Council of Ministers, Member of Parliaments and Secretaries, besides other officers and people’s representatives joined the campaign to bring about a change. Together, the Team Gujarat moved to every corner of Gujarat with a message to educate every child, convincing their parents to enroll their children in schools.

Gujarat Government has launched ‘Bal Bhog’ with a firm resolve to eradicate malnutrition. Mid-day meals, free health checks, etc for social upliftment is initiated by Education Department in association with Health Department.

 

‘Knowledge for All’ has significantly helped reduce the drop-out rate in classes 1 – 5. The drop-out rate reduced to 2.09% in 2010-11 as compared to 20.93% in 2000-01.The Government is further set to transform villages illuminating them with knowledge – information and awareness to bring a change in socio-economic drawbacks.

Knowledge is power – Gyan Shakti

Significant initiatives have been taken under Gyanshakti, the most transforming ones being Gujarat Global Education and Employment Board,Gyan Shakti Rath, Vanche Gujarat, Vidhyalaxmi Yojna, Shala Praveshotsav, Kanya Kelavani Rath, Technical Education and additional admission enrolment, Gunotsav, Vidhya Sahayaks, Vidhya Deep Yojna, Scope Language Programme, and Establishment of Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat

Focusing on Human Resource Development, Gyan Shakti initiatives have ideated the launch of exclusive universities in Gujarat such as Children’s University, Raksha Shakti University and Forensic Science University.

The Saptadhara Yojna under Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat focuses on overall development of youth and enhancing cultural growth. It motivates and encourages youth to seek in-depth information. It’s seven divisions are Gyan Dhara, Sarjanatmak Abhivyakti Dhara, Natya Dhara, Geet Sangeet nritya dhara, Rang-kala kaushalya dhara, Samuhik seva dhara, andVyayam-Yog-Khelkud dhara.

Gyan Shakti also enhances the Power of Youth. The Government, under the new Industrial Policy 2009 has set up INCUBATORS to support buddy tech turned entrepreneurs whose projects and ideas have potential. There is a provision for special encouragement to their innovations, initiatives and entrepreneurship.

Digital and Virtual World Knowledge is the need of the hour and hence, Gujarat Government has decided to convert the state libraries into e-Library making them available at the desktops of the knowledge hungry.

Special preference is given to Girl Child Education and Women Empowerment – Shri Narendra Modi believes, “If you educate a son, you educate one person, but if you educate a girl, you educate an entire family. It is a woman after all who ensures that if she is educated her family progresses too.”
