Chief Minister celebrates Kutchi New Year, pays tribute to Shyamji Krishna Verma
“No district in India can match Kutch as fastest growing district”
“Centre creating biggest hurdles in the development of Gujarat”
“Gujarat is drought-prone but Centre refuses to accept in vendetta”
— Narendra Modi
Ahmedabad, Thursday: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said that Kutch has emerged as the fastest growing district over the last few years which no other district in India can match.
Expressing his pleasure celebrating Kutchi New Year ‘Asadhi Bij’ amidst the people of Kutch at a variety entertainment programme at Mandvi, he said this is the biggest day for the industrious people of the drought-prone Kutch district. The nation should learn how the people here fought adversity.

Mr. Modi said the Narmada project command area in Gujarat is drought-prone but the Centre refused to provide 90 per cent assistance allowed under Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP). He listed discriminating Gujarat against Assam in payment of royalty for crude oil, refusing permission to Santalpur-Gadhuli Road as some of the other pending projects.
He said that it is the first decade in the recent history of Gujarat when peace and security prevails, but the Centre continued to vehemently oppose Gujarat’s development by tooth and nail, threatened to institute CBI inquiry to push Gujarat’s leaders in jail, in a sheer political vendetta. However, he exuded confidence that six crore people’s strength would not let the ruling party at the Centre fulfill its malicious mission.

Mr. Modi also paid his tributes to the revolutionary guru Shyamji Krishna Verma at his memorial at his hometown at Mandvi, called ‘Kranti Teerth’.
On this occasion, he handed over the letter connecting the last home with electricity in this westernmost district of India to Hirabaiben Barot.
The function was presided over by BJP Kutch District President Jayantibhai Bhanushali. Prominent among others present there included Minister of State Vasanbhai Ahir, MPs and MLAs of the district and other dignitaries.
