684-Yang Jiechi, State Councillor of the People’s Republic of China calls on PM (1) Mr. Yang Jiechi conveyed the greetings of President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang to Prime Minister. Mr. Yang Jiechi also briefed Prime Minister on the preparations for his upcoming visit to China. Prime Minister outlined his vision for closer India-China relations and the significance of the India-China bilateral relationship to the region and the world.

Recalling the visit of President Xi Jinping to India in September 2014, Prime Minister expressed hope that his visit to China will have concrete outcomes and take the relationship to a new level. Prime Minister said that he is looking forward to meeting President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang in China.

PM expresses happiness upon rise in the number of elephant reserves in the last 8 years

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has lauded the efforts of Elephant conservationists on the occasion of World Elephant Day. The Prime Minister also expressed happiness upon rise in the number of elephant reserves in the last 8 years.

In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister said;

“On #WorldElephantDay, reiterating our commitment to protect the elephant. You would be happy to know that India houses about 60% of all Asian elephants. The number of elephant reserves has risen in the last 8 years. I also laud all those involved in protecting elephants.”

“The successes in elephant conservation must be viewed in context of the larger efforts underway in India to minimise human-animal conflict, and integrating local communities and their traditional wisdom in furthering environmental consciousness.”
