With Baba's blessings, we have to work hard day and night to continue the development journey of Kashi: PM Modi in Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed a public meeting in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi. Addressing the huge gathering, PM Modi said, “The party which has the strength of hardworking karyakartas like you, then its victory is sure. This shows your enthusiasm and confidence in Booth Vijay Sammelan that we will win every booth as well, will score full marks in this entire region. And I know, BJP karyakartas do not rest till the last day of election. Whatever role the party gives, you put your life into it.”

Prime Minister Modi talked about the several central schemes and projects which are benefiting the people of Uttar Pradesh at large. He said, “In the last five years, the government of double engine has tried sincerely for the development of UP. Today the people of UP are understanding this, they are witnessing the development works done here. Before 2017, UP had a total of 33 medical colleges, including private and government. Today the number of private and government medical colleges in UP has increased to 65. The government which was there before 2017, had built less than 40,000 houses in the cities of UP in its five years. Whereas the BJP government has built about 10 lakh houses in the cities of UP in its five years.”

Drawing a further comparison with the previous government, PM Modi remarked, “In the five years of their government in Varanasi, less than 1500 houses were built. Under Yogi ji's government, more than 24,000 poor families have got their pucca house in Varanasi.”

“Our BJP government has given free electricity connection to about one crore houses in the state under the Saubhagya yojana. In this era of Corona, the BJP government is ensuring free food grains to 15 crore poor. More than 2 crore 60 lakh farmers of UP have also received 43,000 crore rupees of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi directly in their bank account,” said PM Modi. The Prime Minister also mentioned the initiatives taken by the Union Government to clean the river Ganga and said, “The water of more than 80 drains falling in Ganga ji in Varanasi is first going for treatment now.”

PM Modi highlighted certain events that transpired during the inauguration of Kashi Vishwanath Dham Corridor. PM Modi commented how some people have stooped quite low in politics. He said, “Neither I like criticising nor I want to criticise anyone but when in Kashi, my death was publicly wished by some, I really felt very happy, I felt that even my bitterest adversaries were seeing how much the people of Kashi love me. Neither the people of Kashi will leave me nor Kashi will leave me.” PM Modi further iterated that as long as he serves the people of the country, nothing else would make him happier to do so.

He further alleged, “These extreme ‘Parivarwadis’ don't know that Banaras is a living city. This city opens the way to salvation. And now Banaras is marching on the path of development. It will open the path of liberation to the democracy of India, which is trapped in dynasty.”

Slamming the opposition, PM Modi said, “In the previous governments, the situation had become such that fearless criminals took away gold from the Baba Vishwanath temple. Idols were stolen from temples. Mahadev's Kashi was being handed over to the land mafia-drugs mafia and they destroyed its sanctity. In Kashi, there used to be bomb blasts on the ghats, in the temples. The terrorists were fearless because the then Samajwadi government was with them. The earlier government was openly withdrawing the cases against the terrorists.”

Concluding his speech in Varanasi, PM Modi said, “With Baba's blessings, we have to work hard day and night to continue the development journey of Kashi. We have to take a resolution from this Booth Vijay Sammelan that we will win our booth at any cost. Also, we have to take a pledge ourselves, and also get the voters to vote in large numbers – ‘Pehle Matdaan, Phir Jalpaan’.”
