எனதருமை நாட்டுமக்களே, வணக்கம். மனதின் குரலில் உங்களனைவரையும் வரவேற்கிறேன். இன்றைய நாட்களில் சேம்பியன்ஸ் கோப்பைக்கான போட்டிகள் நடைபெற்று வருகின்றன. அனைத்து இடங்களிலும் கிரிக்கெட்டுக்கான சூழல் நிலவி வருகிறது. கிரிக்கெட்டில் சதம் அடிப்பதில் இருக்கும் புளகாங்கிதம் என்ன என்பதை நாம் அனைவருமே நன்கறிவோம். ஆனால் இன்று நான் உங்களனைவரிடத்திலும் கிரிக்கெட்டைப் பற்றியல்ல, பாரதம் விண்வெளியில் சதம் அடித்திருப்பதைப் பற்றி உரையாட இருக்கிறேன். கடந்த மாதம் தான் இஸ்ரோ விண்ணில் செலுத்திய 100ஆவது செயற்கைக்கோளின் சாட்சியாக தேசமே இருந்தது. இது வெறும் எண்ணிக்கை மட்டுமல்ல, மாறாக அன்றாடம் புதிய உச்சங்களைத் ஸ்பரிசிக்கும் நமது உறுதிப்பாட்டையும் அடையாளப்படுத்துகிறது. நமது விண்வெளிப்பயணப் பயணம் மிக எளிய முறையிலே தான் தொடங்கியது. இதிலே ஒவ்வோர் அடியிலும் சவால்கள் இருந்தன. ஆனால், நமது விஞ்ஞானிகள் வெற்றிக்கொடியை நாட்டியபடி தொடர்ந்து முன்னேறினார்கள். காலப்போக்கில் விண்வெளியின் இந்தப் பாய்ச்சலில் நமது வெற்றிகளின் பட்டியல் நீண்டு கொண்டே போகத் தொடங்கியது. ஏவுகலன் அமைப்பதாகட்டும், சந்திரயானின் வெற்றியாகட்டும், மங்கல்யானாகட்டும், ஆதித்ய எல்-1 அல்லது ஒரே ஒரு ஏவுகலன் மூலமாக, ஒரே முறையில், 104 செயற்கைக்கோள்களை விண்ணில் செலுத்தும் வரலாறுகாணா செயல்பாடாகட்டும், இஸ்ரோவின் வெற்றித்தொடர் மிகவும் பெரியது. கடந்த பத்தாண்டுகளில் சுமார் 460 செயற்கைக்கோள்கள் செலுத்தப்பட்டிருக்கின்றன. இவற்றிலே மற்ற நாடுகளின் பல செயற்கைக்கோள்களும் அடங்கும். அண்மை ஆண்டுகளின் ஒரு பெரிய விஷயம் என்னவென்றால், விண்வெளி விஞ்ஞானிகள் கொண்ட நமது குழுவிலே பெண்சக்தியின் பங்களிப்பு தொடர்ந்து அதிகரித்து வருவதுதான். இன்று விண்வெளித்துறை நமது இளைஞர்களுக்கு விருப்பமான ஒன்றாக ஆகியிருக்கிறது என்பது மிகுந்த உவகையை எனக்கு அளிக்கிறது. சில ஆண்டுகள் முன்பு வரை இந்தத் துறையில் ஸ்டார்ட் அப் குறித்தோ, தனியார் துறையின் விண்வெளி நிறுவனங்களின் எண்ணிக்கை பல நூற்றுக்கணக்காகும் என்றோ யார் தான் நினைத்தார்கள்!! வாழ்க்கையை விறுவிறுப்பான, சுவாரசியமான வகையில் அனுபவிக்க நினைக்கும் இளைஞர்களுக்கு, விண்வெளித்துறை ஒரு மிகச் சிறப்பான தேர்வாக ஆகி வருகிறது.
