From waste to wealth: PM Modi showcases Surat’s green development model

At the launch of development projects in Surat, Gujarat, PM Modi called upon all elected representatives of local bodies to work even harder for the state's progress. Expressing pride in Surat being one of the cleanest cities in the country, he lauded the continuous efforts of all stakeholders. He credited Gujarat for its significant contribution to India's energy self-reliance, noting that the state produces one-fifth (50 GW) of the nation's 250 GW renewable energy capacity.

PM Modi will visit Gujarat and Daman on 5th June, 2026. He will visit Hazira in Surat district to review ongoing industrial operations and infrastructure projects. Later, he will launch projects worth around ₹18,800 crore in Surat. In Daman, he will inaugurate the New Terminal Building of NAMO Airport and NAMO Hospital and also launch projects worth around ₹2,970 crores. He will also lay the foundation stone for projects in Lakshadweep worth around ₹885 crore.
