பிரதமராக நான் இந்தியப் பெருங்கடல் பிராந்தியத்தில் முதன்முதலில் பயணம் செய்த நாடு, 2015-ல் செஷல்ஸ் ஆகும். பிரதமராக ஆப்பிரிக்காவிற்கு நான் மேற்கொண்ட முதல் பயணமும் அதுவே. இந்தியப் பெருங்கடல் குறித்த இந்தியாவின் தொலைநோக்குப் பார்வையில் செஷல்ஸ் ஒரு சிறப்பு இடத்தைப் பெற்றுள்ளது என்று நான் நம்பியதாலேயே இங்கு வந்தேன். இன்று, ஒரு பத்து ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு நான் இங்கு வரும்போது, அந்த நம்பிக்கை முன்னெப்போதையும் விட வலுவாக உள்ளது.

செஷல்ஸ் சென்றுள்ள பிரதமர் திரு நரேந்திர மோடிக்கு, சுற்றுச் சூழல் பாநுகாப்புக்கான அந்நாட்டின் உயரிய விருதான Guardian of the Blue Horizon என்ற அந்நாட்டு அதிபரின் சிறப்பு விருதை செஷல்ஸ் அதிபர் டாக்டர் பேட்ரிக் ஹெர்மினி இன்று (28.06.2026) வழங்கி கௌரவித்தார். பிரதமரின் பசுமை செயல்பாடுகள், வளரும் நாடுகளின் நலன்களை மேம்படுத்துவதற்கான முயற்சிகள், நீலப் பொருளாதாரம், பருவநிலை மாற்றம் தொடர்பான நடவடிக்கைகள், கடல் வளங்களின் நிலையான மேலாண்மை, சிறிய தீவு நாடுகளின் வளர்ச்சியை ஊக்குவிப்பதில் பிரதமர் திரு நரேந்திர மோடியின் நீண்டகால அர்ப்பணிப்பு ஆகியவற்றுக்காக இந்த விருது வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த சிறப்புமிக்க விருது வழங்கப்படுவது இதுவே முதல் முறையாகும்.
