On Thursday 7th March 2013 Shri Narendra Modi congratulated the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Shri Arun Jaitley, Congress MP, former Minister & the President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations Dr. Karan Singh and JD (U) MP & NDA convener Shri Sharad Yadav on being conferred the ‘Outstanding Parliamentarian Award.’

Shri Modi Tweeted, Congratulations to Arun Jaitley ji, Dr. Karan Singh ji & Sharad Yadav ji on being conferred the 'Outstanding Parliamentarian Award.”

While Shri Jaitley was conferred the award for 2010, Dr. Karan Singh was conferred the award for 2011 and Shri Sharad Yadav for 2012. Shri Jaitley represents Gujarat in the Rajya Sabha, Dr. Karan Singh represents Delhi in the Rajya Sabha and Shri Yadav is the MP from Madhepura (Bihar) in the Lok Sabha.

The Outstanding Parliamentarian Award was constituted by the Indian Parliamentary Group in 1995 to honors sitting Members of Parliament. Previous winners of the Award include Shri LK Advani, Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, Shri Jaswant Singh and Smt. Sushma Swaraj.

The President of the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (PGA), H.E. Mr. Csaba Korosi called on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today.

During the meeting, Mr. Csaba Korosi lauded India’s transformational initiatives for communities, including in the area of water resource management and conservation. Acknowledging India’s efforts towards Reformed Multilateralism, Mr. Csaba Korosi underscored the importance of India being at the forefront of efforts to reform global institutions.

Prime Minister thanked Mr. Csaba Korosi for making India his first bilateral visit since assuming office. He appreciated Mr. Csaba Korosi’s approach based on science and technology to find solutions to global problems. He assured Mr. Csaba Korosi of India’s fullest support to his Presidency initiatives during the 77th UNGA including the UN 2023 Water Conference.

Prime Minister emphasised the importance of reforming the multilateral system, including the UN Security Council, so as to truly reflect contemporary geopolitical realities.
