On Saturday 4th October 2014 the Prime Minister addressed rallies in Maharashtra. He made a strong appeal to the people of Maharashtra to elect a BJP government and give the Party a complete majority in the Vidhan Sabha elections, scheduled for 15th October. The Prime Minister outlined the work done by the Central Government in the last hour months and added that prices of petrol and diesel have come down, thus bringing relief to the common people.
During his speech Shri Modi also listed the gains for Maharashtra after his series of meetings with world leaders. He gave the example of Chinese investment for an industrial part, Mumbai-Shanghai cooperation and the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train and said that these will give an impetus to Maharashtra’s development journey.
The Prime Minister came down heavily on the Congress-NCP government for the lack of development in Maharashtra during their 15-year tenure. He said, “You gave political stability but you gave it to those who are more worried about themselves. Its been 15 years but what did the state gain? What did you gain? What good happened to Maharashtra? An entire generation has been ruined. They (Congress-NCP) thought that by changing Chief Ministers things would work but the dreams of the people remain unfulfilled.”
Referring to the Congress-NCP combine the PM said, “Amitabh Bachchan ji hosts KBC on TV but in Maharashtra leaders are busy playing Kaun Banega Arabpati.” Referring to the rampant corruption of the Congress-NCP the Prime Minister remarked that the hand and the clock cleaned everything and left nothing for the people. He remarked, “The Gotra of the Congress-NCP is the same. Their habits, culture and goal is the same. They are not Rashtravadi but Bhrashtacharvadi.”
Shri Modi began his campaign from Beed, the home district of former Union Minister Shri Gopinath Munde. Shri Modi showered rich tributes on Shri Munde and remarked that had Shri Munde been alive there, he would not even have to come to campaign. He recalled the hardwork of Shri Munde and said, “As a colleague of Shri Gopinath Munde I have come to ask you something- we have to save Maharashtra and develop Maharashtra to develop India. Let us vote in large numbers and let us remember Gopinath ji while voting.”
Smt. Pankaja Munde, Dr. Pritam Munde and others were present dueing the rally in Beed. Top Maharashtra BJP leaders joined the Prime Minister for his campaign in Maharashtra.
Addressing a massive rally at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai, the Prime Minister shared his vision for the development of Mumbai and Maharashtra. He pointed that the people of Mumbai want an end to rampant corruption and Dadagiri. He assured that the Government is committed to ensuring that no Indian is left homeless by 2022. Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari, RPI leader Shri Ramdas Athawale and other were present during the rally.
