PM expresses sadness over the loss of lives in stampede in West Bengal; approves ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has expressed sadness over the loss of lives caused by a stampede in West Bengal. 

“Saddened by the loss of lives caused by a stampede in West Bengal. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased. 
My prayers with those injured in the stampede in West Bengal. May they recover quickly”, the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister has also approved ex-gratia from PMNRF, of Rs 2 lakh for next of kin of those deceased and Rs. 50,000 for those injured in the stampede.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi congratulated athlete Jyothi Yarraji for winning a silver medal in Women's 100 m Hurdles at the Asian Games.
