The Prime Minister rekindled a spirit of hope and aspiration among the people of Jammu and Kashmir during his campaign in Srinagar and Samba in the poll bound State. Shri Modi made it very clear that way ahead lies if development and finding jobs for the youth, education for the children and proper medical care for the elderly.
Saying that he is here to continue and fulfil the good work initiated by the former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Prime Minister said, “Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji made a good start and we have to carry that forward. What he dreamt we have to fulfill.”
At the rally in Srinagar the PM noted, “There are so many opportunities for tourism. This sector is growing at a very quick pace across the world. There are so many places here, if proper infrastructure is brought can draw several tourists.” Shri Modi also stressed on the need to create proper infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir that can benefit the people of the State.The Prime Minister noted the lackadaisical attitude of the Jammu and Kashmir government during the time of the floods. He stated, “I have to say it that when the floods came the State Government here was sleeping. The moment I knew what is happening I rushed to Jammu and Kashmir. When I met people they told me Modi ji do not give money to the State Government…they did not trust their own Government but they trusted us. This affection of the people if a major asset.”
Further commenting on the state of politics in Jammu and Kashmir the Prime Minster pointed that corruption and dynastic politics is common here and that this must end. He assured the people, “I will make your dreams mine and the entire Government will serve you. Enough is enough. Corruption has ruined Jammu and Kashmir.”
In Samba Shri Modi affirmed, “No government can work on the basis of any discrimination be it on the basis of an area, society and people. All must get an equal opportunity.” He also assured those who have been displaced by saying, “12 lakh people have been displaced. Should there not be rehabilitation for them? They should get their rights. What was their crime? Their crime was they said Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”
Shri Modi talked about the good work done by BJP governments in the various states. He also noted the large attendance in the rallies in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand, adding that he is seeing increase in number of women attending the rally.
