ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ, ਇਹ ਸੂਰਤ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਸੂਰਤ ਇੱਕ ਜਜ਼ਬਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜੇ ਇਹ ਜਜ਼ਬਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦਿਵਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਹਰ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ, ਅਜਿਹੇ 15,000 ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਪੋਸਟਰ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਲੋਕ ਲਿਆਏ ਹਨ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ-ਬਹੁਤ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਨਾ, ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਹੁਣ ਇਸ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੱਗ ਗਿਆ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਸਾਡੇ ਕਾਠੀਆਵਾੜ ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਰਾ ਇੱਥੇ ਸੂਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਉੱਥੇ ਖੇਤੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਅਪੀਲ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਕੰਮ ਦੇ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਵਜੋਂ ‘ਖੇਤ ਬਚਾਓ’ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਜਾਣ। ਕੈਮੀਕਲ ਮੁਕਤ ਖੇਤੀ, ਸਾਡੇ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਜੋ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਖੇਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਸੂਰਤ ਦੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ-ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਿੱਥੇ-ਜਿੱਥੇ ਵੀ ਖੇਤੀ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੱਕ ਨਾਲ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਇੰਨਾ ਕੰਮ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਕਰਨਾ।ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਨਰੇਂਦਰ ਮੋਦੀ ਨੇ ਗੁਜਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਸੂਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ 18,800 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਦੀ ਲਾਗਤ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਈ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਦਘਾਟਨ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਨੀਂਹ ਪੱਥਰ ਰੱਖਿਆ
