<news:keywords>A decade ago, launching and scaling a startup in India often felt like navigating a maze of approvals, paperwork, and the lingering risk of disproportionate penalties for minor slips. The ecosystem was largely confined to a few metros, weighed down by compliance burdens that discouraged risk-taking. As of March 2026, India has surpassed 2 lakh DPIIT-recognised startups, with a record 55,200 added in FY 2025-26 alone; a 51% jump year-on-year. </news:keywords>

<news:keywords>Waste management has become a critical environmental and public health challenge in rapidly urbanising societies like India. The way a country manages its municipal solid waste directly affects groundwater, rivers, soil quality, air pollution, and urban liveability. Since 2014, India’s approach has shifted from unscientific dumping systems to structured waste collection, segregation, and processing, supported by infrastructure expansion, regulatory reforms, and citizen participation. This transition successfully shows the effort of the Modi Government to link urban growth with environmental responsibility.</news:keywords>

<news:keywords>Climate change now shapes everyday decisions, from farming cycles to urban planning in India. As risks from extreme weather and environmental stress increase, the focus has gradually shifted from acknowledgement to response. In India, this response has taken multiple forms, expanding renewable energy, improving forest cover, and strengthening systems to deal with floods, cyclones, and heatwaves. Over the past 12 years, the use of technology, especially emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) has begun to influence how climate challenges are understood and managed.</news:keywords>

Young people had ideas and aspirations, but opportunities to collaborate, innovate, and contribute at scale were limited. <news:keywords>In 2010, India hosted the Commonwealth Games and found itself in global headlines. But alongside the celebration came uncomfortable questions around delays, management concerns, and systemic shortcomings. Beyond the headlines, it exposed a deeper issue within India’s sporting ecosystem. The country had talent in abundance, but lacked a structured system to identify, nurture, and support athletes consistently. Success often depended more on individual determination than institutional support.</news:keywords>

<news:keywords>Environmental conservation in India today is no longer treated as a separate policy domain, but as an integrated part of development planning. The central challenge has been to balance economic growth with ecological stability, where forests, wetlands, wildlife, and urban ecosystems are protected while infrastructure and industrial expansion continue. But since 2014, India’s approach has successfully focused on expanding conservation systems, strengthening ecological restoration, and linking environmental protection with public participation and long-term sustainability.</news:keywords>

Opportunities were limited, hiring was slow, and the idea of starting a business was seen as uncertain and risky. Entrepreneurship lacked institutional support, access to capital was difficult, and most young Indians were conditioned to look for secure jobs rather than create them. </news:keywords>

Millions of graduates entered the job market with limited opportunities, low employability, and few platforms to nurture innovation or sports talent. Starting a business was considered risky, and many bright young minds had to look abroad for better prospects. Sports was treated as a hobby rather than a serious career, and large sections of youth in rural and remote areas remained disconnected from quality education and skill development. </news:keywords>

<news:title>From Fire and Forget to Fabrication Future: India’s Semiconductor Comeback Story</news:title>
<news:keywords>There was a time when India had a real chance to become a global semiconductor player, but that opportunity was lost due to lack of strategic vision and policy clarity. As early as 1957, Fairchild Semiconductors, the precursor to Intel, explored setting up a packaging unit in India. The proposal did not materialise, and that very opportunity later turned into Asia’s largest semiconductor packaging hub in Malaysia. Over the years, similar patterns repeated. India set up early fabrication efforts for silicon and germanium transistors, but these initiatives failed to sustain. The country’s premier chip facility, the Semi-Conductor Laboratory, suffered a major setback when a fire in 1989 halted production for years, effectively pushing India out of the semiconductor race at a critical moment.</news:keywords>

                    <news:title>The Cost of Getting Better</news:title>
<news:keywords>For every Rs. 100 spent by an Indian, around Rs. 63 would be spent on healthcare bills. This meant, on average, almost three-quarters of out-of-pocket healthcare expenditure.
For a significant percentage of the population, this meant that moving out of poverty was a road almost always blocked by large healthcare bills. This number, 62.6%, had defined the scale of India’s healthcare crisis for decades.
That was the percentage of every rupee spent on health that came directly from a patient’s own pocket in 2014-15, not from insurance or the state. It was from families, often borrowing to pay for surgery, a cancer drug, or prolonged hospital care.
With Prime Minister Modi at the helm, that number has fallen to 39% in 2025-26. This outcome is due to the cumulative effect of three policy instruments: Ayushman Bharat, the Jan Aushadhi Kendras, and the September 2025 GST reform, working towards lowering healthcare expenses and providing quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare for all.</news:keywords>

<news:keywords>Development loses its true meaning if it fails to reach the last mile. Progress remains incomplete if it does not touch every citizen equally. And for many decades, this was the reality of Northeast India. It remained on the periphery of India’s growth story, rich in culture and growth potential, yet distant from the benefits of development. However, a wind of change has been noticed since 2014. Once viewed through the lens of remoteness and historical neglect, the region is now emerging as a region of inclusive growth. This transformation is powered by the dedicated and targeted efforts of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government, which made it possible to reach the benefits of development to the last mile. </news:keywords>

                    <news:title>Empowering Middle Class - Affordable Homes</news:title>
<news:keywords>Homeownership represents far more than mere shelter; it embodies the deep human longing for stability, security, and a place to truly call one's own. For the middle class, especially, it remains a cornerstone of the dream, providing both a financial footing and an emotional anchor in an often-uncertain world. For decades, the Indian middle class faced significant obstacles in owning homes. High property costs, complex markets, unpredictable project timelines, and heavy interest burdens often made homeownership seem out of reach. Earlier governments paid very nominal attention to the concerns of the middle class. As a result, the dream of owning a home ended up in limbo for many.

<news:keywords>Since 2014, India’s foreign policy has evolved into a core instrument of national development, moving beyond traditional diplomatic concerns to focus on building long-term national capacity and resilience. External engagement is now closely aligned with domestic priorities such as economic growth, energy security, technological advancement, infrastructure development, and access to critical resources and markets. In this approach of New India, diplomacy is increasingly shaped by the objectives of Viksit Bharat, where trade, investment, connectivity, and technology cooperation are not separate policy tracks but integrated tools for strengthening India’s economic and strategic foundation.</news:keywords>

<news:keywords>For many years, India’s response to terrorism remained diplomatic, while citizens continued to suffer with their lives and property. Even after major attacks, the focus remained on international pressure, official statements, and engagement through global forums. Since 2014, India’s approach has changed. Military response and deterrence have become part of the country’s security framework after major terror attacks. Operation Sindoor reflects this shift in South Asia’s security environment. Restraint is now being understood through controlled and deliberate action. The objective is to impose costs on cross-border terrorism without allowing escalation to widen into a larger conflict.</news:keywords>

<news:keywords>Defence modernisation in India since 2014 is not just about upgrading military hardware; it is a structural shift in how the nation builds, equips, and prepares its armed forces. From reducing import dependence to strengthening indigenous production, strategic infrastructure, and future-ready technologies, India’s defence ecosystem under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has moved towards long-term capability building. This transformation has linked national security directly with India’s industrial growth, technological development, and strategic autonomy.</news:keywords>

<news:keywords>In the early 2000s and even through much of the following decade, air travel in India remained beyond the reach of many ordinary citizens. For a family in a small town, reaching an airport itself was often a challenge. Several regions had no direct air connectivity, and people frequently travelled long distances by train or road to reach major cities before boarding a flight. Air travel was largely viewed as a service for business travellers and the urban middle class rather than an everyday mode of transport.

<news:title>From Distance to Efficiency: How Roads and Ports Are Driving India’s Logistics Transformation </news:title>
<news:keywords>A decade ago, India’s infrastructure was struggling under severe strain. In July 2012, the country suffered one of the world’s largest blackouts, plunging over 620 million people into darkness. Trains stopped mid-journey, traffic signals failed, factories shut down, and ports faced cascading delays as power shortages crippled operations. Trucks crawled on potholed highways, taking 5–6 days for the Delhi–Mumbai run, while ships waited up to 93 hours at congested ports. High logistics costs and poor connectivity had become a major drag on economic growth.

Recognising their importance, the current government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has implemented a holistic approach to empower them. This approach addresses the issues faced by our Annadatas for decades and has formulated a well-calculated strategy that combines technological adoption, expanded credit access, robust risk coverage, infrastructure development, and market reforms. As a result, the Indian agricultural ecosystem has been undergoing a steady, structural transformation. Through sustained policy focus and significant budgetary support, the government has worked to transform agriculture into a viable and modern enterprise. </news:keywords>

<news:keywords>There was a time when infrastructure projects in India were often associated with delays, bottlenecks, and stalled execution. One of the clearest examples was the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, now known as the Atal Setu. First proposed decades ago, the project faced repeated delays due to policy hurdles, approvals, and execution challenges before finally becoming a reality years later. Similar delays affected highways, railway projects, and urban connectivity across the country, slowing economic growth and increasing logistics costs. </news:keywords>

<news:keywords>Reforms, policies that prioritise welfare of every annadata and interventions to create a more conducive ecosystem in Indian agriculture have sparked a new era of transformation. Traditionally focused on subsistence and food security, the sector faced challenges such as fragmented landholdings, low mechanisation, and unpredictable yields. Over the years, gradual modernisation began, but large-scale transformation remained limited. Major policy changes and initiatives adopted since 2014 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have transformed agriculture into a sustained, productivity-oriented economy powered by the engines of scale, science, and sustainability. </news:keywords>

<news:keywords>In an era where ensuring food security has become a top priority amid climate change, geopolitical tensions, and a growing population, India stands out as a beacon of hope for the globe. India has moved beyond ensuring food security for its 140-crore population. In the last one decade, the country has transformed into a significant global food supplier, ranking at the top in many categories of agricultural commodity production. Foodgrain production touched a historic high of 357.73 MMT in 2024-25, reflecting an increase of 43 percent compared to 2013-14. Agricultural and allied exports have steadily climbed, reaching over USD 51 billion in FY25, despite global uncertainties. </news:keywords>

For much of independent India’s history, this plurality was treated as a governance problem, like a fault line between Hindi- and non-Hindi-speaking states, between regional-language speakers, and between the north and the south. The political energy spent on navigating this divide was rarely invested in honouring what lay beneath it.</news:keywords>
