"Glad that Wrestling will once again be a part of the Olympics. It is a matter of great joy for our nation, especially for our wrestlers: CM"

On the evening of Sunday 8th September 2013 Shri Narendra Modi welcomed the move to reinstate Wrestling as a sport in the Olympics.

Sharing his joy on Twitter, Shri Modi Tweeted, “Glad that Wrestling will once again be a part of the Olympics. It is a matter of great joy for our nation, especially for our wrestlers.”

Earlier, when wrestling had been removed as an Olympic sport Shri Modi had expressed great displeasure at the move. He had said that to oppose a sport like wrestling in the name of modernity is an insult a sport that has been a part of our culture since ancient times. He added that removing wrestling from the Olympics was not good news for any sports lover.
