The NDA’s PM candidate Shri Narendra Modi condoled the passing away of the Maharaja of Travancore, His Highness Late Utradam Thirunal Marthanda Varma. Shri Narendra Modi spoke to the family of the deceased Maharaja and offered his condolences.

In a statement, Shri Modi described His Highness Late Utradam Thirunal Marthanda Varma as a person of simple living and high thinking. Shri Modi recalled his visit to Kerala during which he met the late Maharaja. Shri Modi said that he was impressed with the late Maharaja’s devotion and attachment to the Shri Padmanabha Temple.

Shri Modi said that His Highness Late Utradam Thirunal Marthanda Varma gave a sense of pride to all Keralites and that Keralites have lost a father figure who understood the problems of the common people. 

Earlier, Shri Narendra Modi Tweeted on the demise of the Late Maharaja, noting his tremendous contribution in strengthening culture. Shri Modi also wrote that the Late Maharaja was a kind, warm and erudite personality.
