A clarion call to free the Nation from the Congress’ misrule was given by Shri Narendra Modi at his campaign rally at Mul in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, on the afternoon of 4th April, wherein he spoke of the anxiety that had gripped the Nation owing to increasing incidents of crime. Shri Modi also condemned the Congress’ disregard to serve all sections of the society, especially the underprivileged sections, and urged the people to support the Bjp-Shiv Sena–RPI mahayuti in Maharashtra, so as to ensure inclusive development.
From farmer suicides to Maoism-led terrorism, Shri Modi spoke of how innumerable concerns were dodged by the Congress government - the result of which was an unsafe society. Stating how the lack of consensus within the Congress and its allies, especially on issues revolving around Maoist led terrorism, had led to incessant killings of innocent people, Shri Modi said, “There are sharp divisions on how to fight Maoism. There are constant divisions in Congress and due to that the people are suffering. Maoists have to decide whether they want blood to spill? If they hold the plough this land will have colours of progress.” He also urged the Maoists to take the plough and the pen, instead of the gun, and work towards ensuring peace and progress of the society.
Stating further on the aspect of the common man’s security, Shri Modi urged the Election Commission of India to enquire into allegations of a Congress leader’s promise to cut down the security in Gadchiroli, an area that has witnessed rampant Maoist activities.
The Congress’ unconcern for the safety and security of the people was clearly shared by Shri Modi when he stated the figures of women atrocities put forth by the National crime record. Putting forth how 7 states out of the first 10 states, witnessing maximum atrocities on women, were Congress-ruled, Shri Modi confronted Smt. Sonia Gandhi’s insensitive take on women safety, despite the fact that she herself was a woman. “Madam you are a woman, but you are misleading the women. The Nation wants answers on some issues. The States with top atrocities against women have maximum number as Congress ruled states. In the top 10 there is neither the BJP nor NDA state in it. You present false facts and mislead the women of the nation,” said Shri Modi. He also spoke of how the Nirbhaya Fund of Rs. 1000 crore, created by the Centre after the gruesome incident, still lay unused.
Shri Modi also brought forth allegations made by recent reports which stated that Yuva Congress leaders in Latur were involved in the abduction and killing of a lady volunteer of Yuva Congress. He recalled the Tandoor case (referring to the horrific incident of the 1995 killing of a woman by her husband who was a Congress leader), and questioned the Congress President if this was the kind of security the government provided for its female citizens.
Shri Modi also hit back at the Congress’ sloppiness in ensuring the welfare of the underprivileged sections, by stating how the Tribal communities were never given enough scope for development under the Congress rule, despite the fact that Congress ruled the Nation for nearly 50 years. He highlighted how Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji had constituted a separate Ministry for Tribal welfare and worked relentlessly towards ensuring their progress. He further added how the Sports Authority of India had framed policies to encourage tribal youth, but had miserably failed in empowering many.
Applauding Shri Hansraj Ahir’s efforts at taking head on the people involved in the coal scam, Shri Modi urged the people to Vote for the BJP and ensure a strong and stable government in Delhi. He appealed to the people to vote on 10th April and show their support for the Bjp-Shiv Sena–RPI mahayuti.
Recalling his strong relation with the land, Shri Modi remembered Shri Madhukarrao Bhagwat who had mentored him, and said that Chandrapur was the ‘tirth bhumi’ for him.
Shri Devendra Fadnavis and Shri Hansraj Ahir were among the senior BJP leaders present during the rally.
