On Tuesday 20th May 2014 Shri Narendra Modi was unanimously elected the leaders of the BJP Parliamentary Party. Shri Modi’s name was proposed by Shri LK Advani and seconded by a large number of BJP leaders including Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, Smt. Sushma Swaraj, Shri Arun Jaitley, Shri Nitin Gadkari, Shri Gopinath Munde, Shri Venkaiah Naidu among others. Shri Modi recalled Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who did not attend the meeting due to his health and added that the BJP has always received Atal ji’s blessings.

In an emotional speech where he thanked the Party Karyakartas and the senior leaders of the Party Shri Narendra Modi affirmed that the NDA government will be a governments dedicated to the poor, youth and women. He assured that he will give every moment of his time for the people. Shri Modi paid rich tributes to the lakhs of Karyakartas who built the BJP and the Jan Sangh over the years, saying that this historic day for the BJP is seen due to their countless efforts.

In a display of statesmanship, Shri Modi congratulated all previous Governments and their leaders. He said, "Neither me nor BJP feels past governments did nothing. Every government served the nation in some way or the other. I congratulate all previous governments and their leaders. We will take their good work ahead and aspire to do even better.”

Shri Modi said that the country and the BJP are like his Mother and that he will continue to serve the nation. Commenting on the just concluded elections, Shri Modi said that winning and losing is a part of elections and can be discussed forever but what is important is the fact that the common man and woman got renewed self-confidence and faith in our democracy.

He congratulated all the newly elected MPs and asked them to strengthen the Party in the states. He also asked the Party to think of innovative ways to mark Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay’s 100th birth anniversary in 2015-2016.

The BJP Parliamentary Party Meet was followed by the NDA Parliamentary Meet where all NDA allies including Shri Parkash Singh Badal, Shri Uddhav Thackeray, Shri Chandrababu Naidu, Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, Shri Upendra Khushwaha, Shri Vijaykanth, Shri Ramadoss, Shri Kuldeep Bishnoi, Shri Rangaswami, Shri Pawan Kalyan, Ms. Anupriya Patel, Shri PA Sangma, Shri Rio to name a few. Shri Badal, Shri Thackeray, Shri Naidu, Shri Paswan and Shri Rio also addressed the gathering.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today congratulated Prime Minister elect H.E. Dr Navin Ramgoolam on his historic election victory in Mauritius. 

In a post on X, Shri Modi wrote:
