On the evening of Friday 4th October 2013 BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate for 2014 Elections Shri Narendra Modi welcomed the announcement of elections in 5 states. He described elections as a celebration of democracy and said he looked forward to a healthy and spirited contest.

 

The 5 states that are going to the polls are Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram. The counting of results in all states will be held on 8th December 2013. Additionally, by election for Surat (West) seat in Gujarat will be held on 4th December 2013.

Announces ex-gratia for the dead and injured

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has condoled the deaths in a tractor-trolley mishap in Kanpur today.

He also announced ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be paid to the next of kin of each of the deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000 .

The Prime Minister Office tweeted:

“Distressed by the tractor-trolley mishap in Kanpur. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their near and dear ones. Prayers with the injured. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to the affected: PM @narendramodi”
