On Thursday 10th October 2013 Shri Narendra Modi met the Ambassador of South Korea to India Mr. Joon-gyu Lee. This meeting comes in a year when India and South Korea mark the 40th year of their diplomatic relations. The two of them discussed avenues of cooperation between Gujarat and South Korea is various fields. The Honourable Ambassador invited Shri Narendra Modi to visit South Korea.

Mr. Lee Joongyu, who has been serving as South Korea’s Ambassador for a year discussed avenues of cooperation in the fields of culture, education, economy and industry.

Narendra Modi ji recalled his own visit to South Korea and talked about the close relations between Gujarat and South Korea. He expressed keenness to further maritime trade between Gujarat and South Korea. Shri Modi expressed keenness for cooperation between Gujarat and South Korea. They discussed cooperation with Korea’s Maritime University to enhance maritime human resource development. Additionally, they also talked about cooperation with South Korea in the shipbuilding industry.

In the field of strengthening cultural relations, Modi ji talked about student exchanges and he invited participation from South Korea in the upcoming National Urban Development Summit.

ACS Industry, Shri Maheshwar Sahu and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri AK Sharma were present on the occasion.
