Microsoft senior executives meet Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi

Microsoft’s government and business head for Asia Ken Wye Swa and its India operation’s Arun Rajamani met Chief Minister Narendra Modi here today and offered to provide mobile governance in Human Resource Management (HRM) to disseminate information about government services to the target groups and people in a simpler and more effective way.

Mr. Modi said that Gujarat Government has prepared a long-term strategy for application of technology for good governance. He stressed on the need to apply technology to encompass every aspect of government employees’ service records from recruitment to retirement.

He looked forward to software that would ensure seamless flow of records, from announcement of vacancies to transfer, posting and promotions, with optimum utilization of incumbents. He listed steps that the government had already taken in greater use of mobiles and smart phones, the objective being empowerment of the lowest strata of the people.

Microsoft senior executives were impressed by Gujarat Government’s initiative in application of technology in good governance and expressed desire to partner Gujarat’s march to development.

Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary A.K. Sharma was present during the meeting.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation today with the Amir of the State of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah.

The two leaders exchanged views on the evolving security situation in West Asia.

Prime Minister expressed deep concern over the escalation of tensions and reaffirmed India’s strong condemnation of attacks on Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Prime Minister reiterated the call for de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy for earliest restoration of peace and stability.

Prime Minister thanked His Highness the Amir for his personal attention to the continued well-being and the safety of the large Indian community in Kuwait.
