पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी यांच्या अध्यक्षतेखाली केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडळाने आज महाराष्ट्रातील ठाणे इंटिग्रल रिंग मेट्रो रेल्वे प्रकल्प कॉरिडॉरला मंजुरी दिली. 29 किमी लांबीचा हा कॉरिडॉर ठाणे शहराच्या पश्चिमेकडील भागात असेल आणि त्यावर 22 स्थानके असतील. या मार्गाच्या एका बाजूला उल्हास नदी आणि दुसऱ्या बाजूला संजय गांधी राष्ट्रीय उद्यान आहे.
