At the invitation of PM Modi, Russian President Putin paid a State Visit to India for the 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit. The Leaders positively assessed the multifaceted and mutually beneficial India–Russia relations that span all areas of cooperation. PM Narendra Modi and President Vladimir Putin of Russia took stock of bilateral relations between both the countries and agreed to strengthen cooperation in host of sectors. PM Modi called for an enhanced cooperation in renewable energy and nuclear power sectors. He urged Russian private sector to explore the opportunities Indian economy offered. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday dedicated to the nation the first 1,000 MW unit of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project. The 1,000 megawatt Kudankulam nuclear power plant was built with Russian expertise. PM Modi said that Kundankulum was a key addition to India's continuing efforts to scale up clean energy production.
