प्रत्येक राष्ट्राची स्वतःची अशी प्रतिके-खुणा असतात. या खुणा जगाला त्या देशाच्या भूतकाळाची आणि त्याच्या मूल्यांची ओळख करून देतात. आणि, ही प्रतिके घडवण्याचे काम राष्ट्राच्या कला, संस्कृती आणि वास्तू करत असतात. राजधानी दिल्ली अशा अनेक प्रतिकांचे केंद्र आहे, ज्यात आपल्याला भारतीय वास्तुच्या भव्यतेचे दर्शन घडते. त्यामुळे दिल्लीत आयोजित ‘इंडिया आर्ट आर्किटेक्चर अँड डिझाईन बिएनाले’ हा भारतीय कला, वास्तूरचना शास्त्र आणि रचना महोत्सव, अनेक अर्थांनी विशेष आहे. मी इथे उभारलेली, सजवलेली दालने बघत होतो, आणि मी उशीरा आलो त्याबद्दल तुमची माफी देखील मागतो कारण मला यायला उशीर याच कारणामुळे झाला..इथे अशा अनेक गोष्टी पाहण्यासारख्या आणि व्यवस्थित वेळ देऊन समजून घेण्यासारख्या असल्यामुळे त्यात वेळ जाऊन मला उशीर झाला. तरीही मला 2 ते 3 जागा सोडाव्या लागल्या. या दालनांमध्ये रंग आणि सर्जनशीलता आहे. त्यात संस्कृती आहे, तसेच सामाजिक प्रतिबिंब आहे. मी या यशस्वी आरंभाबद्दल, सांस्कृतिक मंत्रालय, त्याचे सर्व अधिकारी, सर्व सहभागी देश आणि तुम्हा सर्वांचे अभिनंदन करतो. आपल्याकडे असे म्हटले जाते की पुस्तक म्हणजे जग पाहण्याची एक लहानशी खिडकी म्हणून सुरुवात आहे. मी असे मानतो की कला हा मानवी मनातून प्रवास करण्याचा राजमार्ग आहे.
