पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी यांच्या अध्यक्षतेखाली केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडळाने आज 'सिंटेर्ड रेअर अर्थ परमनंट मॅग्नेटस् (आरईपीएम म्हणजेच - निओडिमियम, लोखंड आणि बोरोन यांच्या धातुमिश्रणापासून बनवले जाणारे सर्वात मजबूत प्रकारचे स्थायी चुंबक) उत्पादनाला प्रोत्साहन देण्यासाठी 7,280 कोटी रुपयांच्या योजनेला मंजुरी दिली. अशा प्रकारच्या पहिल्याच उपक्रमाचे उद्दिष्ट भारतात प्रतिवर्षी 6,000 मेट्रिक टन (एमटीपीए) एकात्मिक रेअर अर्थ परमनंट मॅग्नेट (आरईपीएम) उत्पादन क्षमता निर्माण करणे हे आहे. यामुळे भारताची आत्मनिर्भरता वाढवून जागतिक आरईपीएम बाजारपेठेत देशाला एक महत्त्वपूर्ण स्थान मिळेल.
