Launching multiple development projects worth ₹23,550 crore in Silchar, Assam, PM Modi said the projects will further empower Barak Valley as a logistics hub for the entire North East. He laid the foundation stone for the Shillong–Silchar High-Speed Corridor, noting it will boost local industry, agriculture and tourism. He cautioned that the hard-won era of peace and progress must be protected from regressive forces.

Union Cabinet approves ₹4,250 crore special development packages for Assam & Tripura

The Union Cabinet, chaired by PM Modi, approved four new components under the Central Sector Scheme of Special Development Packages for Assam and Tripura with an outlay of ₹4,250 crore. The package includes ₹500 crore for Apasi-inhabited areas of Assam, ₹500 crore for NCHAC (Dimasa) areas, ₹3,000 crore for ULFA-affected regions, and ₹250 crore for tribal development in Tripura.
