PM Modi participated in the Winter Tourism Program and addressed the gathering at Harsil, Uttarakhand. PM recalled his visit to Baba Kedarnath, where he had declared that, “this decade would be the decade of Uttarakhand”. He congratulated the Uttarakhand government for the innovative effort of Winter Tourism and extended his best wishes. He noted that the recently approved Kedarnath Ropeway Project will reduce the travel time from 8-9 hours to approximately 30 minutes. While addressing a Parivartan rally at Dehradun in Uttarakhand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Uttarakhand can no longer wait for development. Shri Modi launched the Chardham highway development project and said that it is a fitting tribute to those who lost their lives in Kedarnath tragedy. The Prime Minister said the new project will improve connectivity to the Chardham pilgrimage centres. Shri Modi mentioned that facilities for pilgrims at Chardham Yatra centres were not adequate and due to that several devotees were unable to travel.
