On the evening of Tuesday 25th December 2012 Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Kankaria Carnival 2012 at the iconic Kankaria Lake in Maninagar, Ahmedabad.

The start of the Kankaria Carnival comes on National Good Governance Day, which is the birthday of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Over the last few years the Kankaria Carnival has made a niche for itself for itself as a cultural extravaganza that has drawn people from all over Gujarat. When Shri Narendra Modi assumed office as Chief Minister, the condition of the Kankaria Lake was very poor but in the last decade he presided over a complete overhaul of the lake and its surrounding area, which made this carnival a reality.

This year there will be many activities during the Kankaria Carnival. These include target archery, aqua carting, Segway, a butterfly park and numerous cultural programmes and competitions.
