The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today unveiled a plaque to mark the laying of the foundation stone of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway at Sector-62 in Noida.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister recalled the role of Meerut in the 1857 uprising for freedom from British rule, and said that this Delhi-Meerut Expressway would provide freedom from pollution.

Noting the people's aspirations for development, the Prime Minister said good roads were one of the first pre-requisites for development. He said this expressway will spur development in western Uttar Pradesh. He recalled former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee's vision for connecting India through the Golden Quadrilateral project, and through Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

The Prime Minister touched upon other development schemes launched by the Union Government, including the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, to ensure proper irrigation facilities for farmers.

The Prime Minister said that with the abolition of interviews for Government jobs in Class-III and Class-IV categories, the Government is giving a unique gift to the youth of India on January 1st, 2016.

The Prime Minister called upon all political parties to take a resolution in 2016, that they will let Parliament function and work for the benefit of the poor. He said that the people of India have elected their representatives to discuss, debate and deliberate in Parliament, and therefore, this is their duty.

The Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Ram Naik, Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union MoS (I/C) Dr. Mahesh Sharma and Union MoS Shri P. Radhakrishnan were present on the occasion.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today interacted with Page Samiti members from Gujarat via NaMo App. Congratulating the people of India on National Voters’ Day, PM Modi said, “Today is the National Voters' Day. I especially congratulate the millennials on this day. India's Election Commission is a benchmark for the entire world today. Our efforts must be to encourage people to vote.”

While interacting with BJP karyakartas, PM Modi asked them, “Can we take a pledge that in this Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, we ensure at least 75% voting, in every booth?”

PM Modi discussed on barrage of topics with BJP karyakartas that includes Vaccination coverage, Technology related issues, Amba ji, Solar power projects, development of Kutch etc.

Interacting with Shailesh Panchal from Vadodara district, PM Modi said that he was aware that BJP karyakartas were helpful during corona times. He also asked him about the use of technology. Replying to this, Panchal said, “We are active on social media and we have made different whatsapp and messaging groups for different areas to fulfill their particular needs.”

Also, he said, “Pehle Desh, Phir Dal... This has always been the mantra of BJP for all our Karyakartas.” PM Modi said that all Panna Pramukhs from the state should make an effort to know each and every member present in their panna and treat them as their family whether there is an election or not.

PM Modi urged all Panna Pramukhs to sit together and listen to ‘Mann Ki Baat’. He also asked one of the karyakartas to get the photo clicked of all Panna Pramukhs listening to Mann Ki Baat and share with him on the social media.

The Prime Minister has requested Panna Pramukhs for micro donation, to donate small amounts of money to the party fund. He also said, “the 'Kamal Pushp' is an innovative campaign on the NaMo App. I urge the Panna Pramukhs to collect inspiring stories of the Karyakartas who have served the society.” PM Modi also stressed on the need to reduce malnutrition and steps to be taken to eradicate this and other related problems.
