PM Modi inaugurated Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu across the Brahmaputra in Guwahati, Assam. Stating that the bridge is a vital infrastructure project for Guwahati and the surrounding areas, he noted that connectivity, comfort and commerce will be significantly enhanced. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by PM Modi, has approved the construction of a 4-lane access-controlled greenfield connectivity corridor from Gohpur on NH-15 to Numaligarh on NH-715, including a 15.79 km road-cum-rail tunnel under the River Brahmaputra, worth Rs. 18,662 crore in Assam. The project will enhance the efficiency of freight movement, reduce logistics costs and drive socio-economic growth in the North Eastern region.
