Hon'ble CM gives prizes worth Rs.25-L to Guj Ranji Trophy and Under-19 teams

In a function held under the aegis of Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) today Chief Minister Narendra Modi gave prizes worth Rs.25.06-lakh to the Gujarat Ranji Trophy team which secured runner-up position in Ranji Trophy 2010-11 and Gujarat Under-19 team which became the national champion for the first time in Under-19 cricket tournament.

Ranji Trophy team was given the prizes of Rs.14.56-lakh whereas the Under-19 team was given the prizes of Rs.10.50-lakh. Chief Minister, who is also the President of GCA, conveyed good wishes to the players. He said that a great number of career building opportunities have opened up in the field of sports which can benefit not only the talented players but other youths too.

Vice-President of GCA and MP Parimal Nathwani, Secretary Rajesh Patel, Joint Secretaries Ashok Saheba, Bharat Dudhiya, Mehul Patel and Treasurer Dhiraj Jogani were present on the occasion.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi condoled the loss of lives during NIM Uttarkashi mountaineering expedition due to an avalanche. The Prime Minister remarked that rescue operations are underway and the situation is being closely monitored by the authorities.

The Prime Minister’s Office tweeted;

“It is saddening that we have lost precious lives of those associated with a NIM Uttarkashi mountaineering expedition. Condolences to the bereaved families. Rescue operations are underway and the situation is being closely monitored by the authorities.”
