Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today stressed on the need to prepare a data of psycho profiles of persons with criminal mentality for their psychological analysis.

Inaugurating the 37th national conference of Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists under the aegis of Gujarat Forensic Science University here, he said that forensic science could play a very effective role in understanding the psychology of criminals and prisoners, including juvenile delinquents.

Gujarat High Court Chief Justice S.K. Mukhopadhyay presided over the inaugural session being attended by about 350 delegates.

Mr. Modi asserted that India is rich in study of human behavior right from the childhood to joint family, moral values through educational system as scripted in Vedas and modern sciences. The clinical psychologists have to probe inside the human mind, breaking up of joint family system, domestic violence, child abuse and all such factors.

He said the Gujarat’s Forensic Science University has already earned global acclaim in crime detection, interrogation, investigation to conviction. The crime detection agencies should take into account the person’s job profile, corporate response and his associates. They should also detect why women outnumber men in suicide cases.

Justice Mukhopadhyay called for qualitative changes in social psychology for meaningful research in forensic science and clinical psychology.
