Shri Narendra Modi while dedicating an ultra modern Children’s Home “Bal Gokulam”, first of its kind in country, set up at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.5 crore, in Vadodara on Saturday said, Gujarat has set up a novel model of “Next Generation Development” for the all round development of the State. This innovative concept of setting up of Bal Gokulam, like projects would be taken up in entire Gujarat with Public Private Partnership, he added.
The unique centre that has been constructed by renowned construction firm in 17200 sft on 28000 sft of land, with public-private partnership will rehabilitate orphan-lost-child labourers-abandoned and poor single parent children in society.
He said Bal Gokulam would be a model for such institutions to come up in India in future and proved to be a centre of inspiration for the entire country. Shri Modi said, Gujarat Government had adopted a new idea of people’s participation and people’s movement in resolving the problems of people.
Shri Modi visited entire complex of Children Home and spent ten minutes with the children residing there. He also honoured the donors, who contributed for setting up ‘Bal Gokulam.
Speaking on occasion, Women and Child Development Minister Anandiben Patel said, this unique golden gift of cultural capital of state, is an excellent example of Society’s contribution towards poor-orphan children of society .She appealed the rich families of district to adopt such children and extend not only financial support but to give them love and compassion .She congratulated collector Vijay Nehra and his team for this humanitarian task they did.
Collector and President of Vadodara District Probation and After Care Association, Vijay Nehra giving outlines of the project in his welcome address said, the project has been financed completely out of funds received from various donors in the city. The success of the project is a testimony to the fact that even today society at large is sensitive to such causes and people only need an appropriate platform to make meaningful contribution to the society.
Vadodara District Probation and After Care Association in collaboration with Vadodara district administration took up the project as a challenge and completed the task in a record time of one and half year, having unique facilities such as Public Residential School. This Children Home comes as a golden gift to needy children, when the State is celebrating its Golden Jubilee year. The decision to set up an ultra modern Children Home in Vadodara, envisioned an equal status to such children in society, was taken by the administration during the celebrations of Nirogi Bal Varsh (Healthy Child Year).
Bal Gokulam envisions all round development of children, providing them with excellent education and sporting facilities. It also intends to provide with vocational training aiming to make them self- sufficient.
