On April 9th, Shri Narendra Modi addressed a Karyakarta Sammelan in Kolkata. The event saw a phenomenal response. Member of Parliament Shri Chandan Mitra and BJP leaders from Bengal were present during the event.

Below are excerpts from Shri Modi’s speech:

It is my privilege to be in the same place that is linked with Gurudev and Subhas Babu

“It is my privilege to be in the same place that is linked with Gurudev and Subhas Babu. A different vibrancy is created when we remember these people”

“There are many such people who gave their lives to nation. In sacrifice, Bengal has a high place: This is land of Ramkrishna Paramhans, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Swami Vivekananda. I bow to this land.”

There will be a time when people of Bengal will see you with heads held high.

“As you know I have worked in organisation for long, I have come to West Bengal too. When I meet Karyakartas in Gujarat, I talk of karyakartas of states where Karyakartas face hardships. Despite all hurdles, Karyakartas have devoted their lives, sacrificed family life. Be it Kerala, West Bengal, the North East or Kashmir, these Karyakartas are an inspiration for nation. Even today, we draw strength from you all in Gujarat.”

“Even saving of the election deposit is considered big. Yet, even with power nowhere in sight for thought, values, for Maa Bharti you have devoted yourself. Your hardwork will give bear positive results, I am sure. There will be a time when people of Bengal will see you with heads held high.”

The course of politics has changed. Everyone has to talk of development whether they like it or not.

“The course of politics has changed. What used to happen 10 years ago, it is not possible today. Be it any party with any ideology, everyone has to talk of development like it or not. They have to go to people and build a trust based on development.”

Government has to work for the poor.

“There can be politics of development. Who is the Government for? If rich falls ill does he need government hospital. If the rich child wants to study many teachers come but the Government has to educate the children of the poor. Government has to work for the poor.”

I can say based on experience that in Delhi after 1947 this is first Govt that there is so much hatred for.

“Every Government is accountable for its work. What is reason there is no much animosity towards Govt in Delhi? Even despite the Media which has helped them a lot. Vested interest groups have tried all to save the government, but still, every person dislikes the Government in Delhi.”

“I came to politics very late but can say with experience that in Delhi after 1947 this is first Government for which there is so much hatred. Unhappiness with Governmentt is possible, it is natural but hatred, dislike, mistrust, it never happened earlier”

“Congress is responsible for this. And it is going ahead with its self interest in a way that when that anything wrong happens, in non-UPA state they defame it. If it’s in UPA state or Centre, then the Congress shamelessly puts the blame on the allies. As if they have no responsibility. They are not at fault.”

“Should such a Congress be in power? Should it not be uprooted?”

Gujarat is the parameter for Development!

“We need to dream of a Congress free India. What is the reason that all over, when there is talk of development there is talk of Gujarat?”

“Those who appreciate Gujarat, they say see how Gujarat is developing. Those who do not like say- see we are ahead of Gujarat in this. You like Gujarat or not, the parameter is Gujarat.”

Compare Development Models in India, I am sure BJP will emerge as the best performer

“I urge political pundits, is it not the need of the hour that we study what the development model of nation? Nation has seen Congress for 50 years, Communist rule in Kerala, WB, even family run parties and they have seen Governments run by the BJP. There are about 5 Development models in front of everyone. Decide the parameters and see who did what in their 5 years for the people, for development. I can say with confidence that when these 5 Governments are evaluated, BJP will emerge as the best performer.”

“Congress has been in Delhi for so long. From Panchayat to Parliament, there was hardly opposition. These were days when media was not active, no PIL, not judicial activism, NGOs were not active. Three decades passed - no one asked Cong any questions. Despite such a good opportunity, no trace of obstacles, so much facilities, what was the reason Congress did not give anything to nation? Today there are many obstacles. CBI comes, no week passes without a PIL, there is attack by the media, NGOs kick up a storm, Opposition is obstructing.”

“Despite this, all BJP Governments, be they of Dr. Raman Singh, Shivraj ji, Dhumal ji, Vasundhara ji, Shetter ji, Parikar ji, wherever we got chance there has been no trace of corruption. Our Governments took pro-people decisions.”

“We have seen how the left has ruined West Bengal and Kerala. They were only looking at new ways only to win polls. Appointments were also done keeping in mind what will help winning polls.”

“A Government of India report came, in the entire country, Gujarat had the lowest unemployment. On the other hand, UPA/Left Governments have recorded highest unemployment. We may be small here, our presence limited but we must go with the message that, the path we chose has helped many states and can help Bengal.”

A party that does not see its PM as the nation's leader or party leader, how can such a PM lead the nation?

“Congress is debating whether there are 1 or 2 power centres. I do not know what to say. Power centre comes later but can you see power, if there is power we can debate the number of centres. By only changing the battery this car will not run. Similarly, cosmetic changes won’t make this government function properly.”

“Meet 100 Congress workers, take their interview and ask them who is leader of nation. They will not take name of Dr. Singh. A party that does not see its PM as the nation's leader or party leader, how can such a PM lead the nation?”

“Is there any state where Congress said what they have done? One of their leaders says we gave mobiles, but have people received mobile phones as gifts?”

“I say, forget mobile phones, what about the charger. There is no power, no electricity, how will the phone be charged? First give electricity at least? How are they running the nation?”

Irresponsible spending is being termed development!

“The Government thinks emptying the coffers is economic development. UPA is engrossed in wasting public money: the money which is yours. Rather than spending the money for development, it is being spent to strengthen votebanks.”

“The Government says that they have given RTI but I read, the PMO refused to give information when someone applied. Then what gives you the right to talk of RTI? You do not even give information.”

“Yesterday I delivered a lecture on Minimum Government, Maximum Governance, But today in our country we have No government, No governance? We do not hear any good news. When I ask Congress friends - tell 10 things you did in last year, there is no response. “

India has been defamed because of the Central Government.

“Even during the Commonwealth Games, the entire responsibility was with the Government but they say we had no role, as if they are bathing with raincoats on.”

“The Government cannot even negotiate with smaller nations on issues like fair coal prices. They do not even have that much strength.”

“Congress ministers have embarrassed the country by reading some other country’s speech in the UNO.”

“India has never been defamed as much it has been now. No one is ready to trust us now.”

Poor are not getting essential commodities

“Today, poor are not getting essential commodities like foodgrains, kerosene but we get news about much grain getting wasted. Our farmer’s hardwork is getting wasted.”

“Even the Supreme Court had said , “Give grains to poor.” But the government ignored them and what did they do? They gave it to liquor manufacturers.”

“Now, can we trust such people? It is the need of the hour. We have to take determination to uproot the Congress. We have to defeat those who want to break the nation.”

Shri Modi ended the speech with the powerful message
na rukna hai, na thakna hai, na jhukna hai To stop, to get tired, to bend...it is not in us”

Shri Modi was presented with various mementos including a book. The gathering was also addressed by State BJP President Rahul Sinha and BJP Leader Shri SJ Singh.

India’s GDP Soars: A Win For PM Modi’s GDP plus Welfare
December 01, 2023

Exceeding all expectations and predictions, India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has demonstrated a remarkable annual growth of 7.6% in the second quarter of FY2024. Building on a strong first-quarter growth of 7.8%, the second quarter has outperformed projections with a growth rate of 7.6%. A significant contributor to this growth has been the government's capital expenditure, reaching Rs. 4.91 trillion (or $58.98 billion) in the first half of the fiscal year, surpassing the previous year's figure of Rs. 3.43 trillion.
India has emerged as an outstanding performer among major economies, showcasing resilience in the face of a globally uncertain environment characterized by risks related to geopolitical conflicts, fluctuating energy prices, and concerns about a potential recession.
This impressive milestone further substantiates the country’s unique development paradigm. A paradigm, that has been a hallmark of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government in the last 9 years, set to leave an inspiring trail for other developing nations to follow.

What is PM Modi’s GDP Plus Welfare model?
GDP, in itself, has been an incomplete measure of development as it overlooks inequality amid growth. However, once PM Modi assumed service of the nation in 2014, growth intertwined with welfare to revolutionize the Indian economic experience. The fruits of the shift are visible today as India continues to be the fastest growing major economy even as the global headwinds don’t show much promise.
PM Modi’s GDP Plus Welfare model has worked wonders for a country that had been long deprived of even basic amenities of life. This success can be attributed to a departure from the previous governments’ approach to welfare, which primarily involved handouts, loan write-offs, or the distribution of consumer goods. Taking a leaf out of his development initiatives in Gujarat, PM Modi focused on building fundamental public infrastructure first, empowering individuals to act as agents of change. We have seen this approach in government schemes like SAUBHAGYA, Jal Jeevan Mission, PM Awas Yojana, and PM Gram Sadak Yojana, among others. Today we have achieved 100% electrification of villages while over 13.7 crore tap water connections make water available to 70% of our families from only 17% about a decade ago. In addition, PM Modi’s government has sanctioned over 4 crore houses towards its guarantee of Housing for All. The Swachh Bharat Mission has successfully constructed over 11.7 crore toilets, contributing to improved sanitation nationwide. In 2014, barely half of the villages had all-weather road connectivity, but today, the number has surged to over 99%.
Going beyond the fundamental needs, the government since 2014 has taken transformative measures to augment economic activity in every possible way. In manufacturing, for example, initiatives like Make in India, Production-Linked Incentive schemes, along with labor reforms have greatly energized overall industrial sentiment. Today as the data suggests manufacturing has achieved a real GVA growth of 13.9% in Q2 of FY2024 against 4.7% in Q1. PMI Manufacturing continues to expand, reaching 55.5 in October 2023.
The services sector has also performed well registering a jump of 5.8%, driven by robust financial, public administration and professional services. The construction sector, in particular, is performing exceptionally well, jumping from 7.9% in Q1 to 13.3% in Q2 as the government increased its capex by over 40%.
In addition, schemes like PM Fasal Bima Yojana, PM KISAN, Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana, PM Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, and e-NAM are actively supporting, modernizing and changing the face of Indian agriculture.
PM Modi has been heavily committed to charting the trajectory for Bharat to become a developed country by 2047. His further push towards building long-term infrastructure finds momentum via AMRUT, Smart Cities, Vande Bharat trains, industrial and freight corridors along with Sagarmala and Bharatmala. These bona fide interventions are powered by PM Gati Shakti and National Infrastructure Pipeline that aim to simplify and integrate planning, and funding of infrastructural activity in the country respectively.
Whether it is about building a road for connectivity or restoring an individual’s dignity through toilets, PM Modi’s government has pursued a diverse blend of welfare and GDP spending. Each government initiative focuses on building sustainable assets that not only result in extensive connectivity, robust infrastructure, rural and urban renewal but also generate jobs and aid human capital development. These programs constitute the foundation for 21st-century India, molding the vision of New India, rapidly progressing towards the realization of the goal of becoming a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India). All of this transcends the concept of transactional welfarism. It is about creating a virtuous cycle of economic demand via empowerment of individuals cutting across lines of caste, class, community, religion and gender. It is about establishing conditions for growth that are both sustainable and egalitarian. embodying the principle of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas' as stated by the Prime Minister.
PM Modi’s inclusive developmental paradigm stands vindicated today. Along with the growth in our GDP, the government has been able to lift 13.5 crore people out of poverty— an unprecedented achievement. Globally, the model has ensured that India maintains its developmental streak even as countries like China show vulnerability. PM Modi’s GDP plus Welfare model is indeed a formidable recipe for a formidable India—an India which is Aatmanirbhar and Viksit.
