પ્રધાનમંત્રી શ્રી નરેન્દ્ર મોદીએ આજે પશ્ચિમ બંગાળના કોલકાતાના શ્યામાપ્રસાદ મુખર્જી પોર્ટ ખાતે સ્વદેશી રીતે ડિઝાઇન કરાયેલા અને નિર્મિત ત્રણ નૌકાદળના જહાજો - INS દૂનાગિરી, એક અદ્યતન સ્ટીલ્થ ફ્રિગેટ, INS સંશોધક, એક સર્વેક્ષણ જહાજ (મોટું) અને INS અગ્રય, એક એન્ટી-સબમરીન વોરફેર શેલો વોટર ક્રાફ્ટ, રાષ્ટ્રને સમર્પિત કર્યા. આ સમાવેશો રાષ્ટ્રની ઓપરેશનલ ક્ષમતાઓને નોંધપાત્ર રીતે પ્રોત્સાહન આપશે, દરિયાઈ ક્ષેત્રની જાગૃતિમાં વધારો કરશે અને ભૌગોલિક રાજકીય જોખમો સામે દરિયાકાંઠાના પાણીની સુરક્ષાને મજબૂત કરશે. ત્રણેય જહાજો ભારતીય નૌકાદળના વોરશિપ ડિઝાઇન બ્યુરો દ્વારા ડિઝાઇન કરવામાં આવ્યા હતા અને કોલકાતામાં ગાર્ડન રીચ શિપબિલ્ડર્સ એન્ડ એન્જિનિયર્સ (GRSE) દ્વારા 200થી વધુ MSME સહિત ભારતીય ઉદ્યોગની વ્યાપક ભાગીદારી સાથે બનાવવામાં આવ્યા હતા. 75 ટકાથી વધુ સ્વદેશી સામગ્રી સાથે, આ જહાજો આત્મનિર્ભરતા પ્રત્યે ભારતની પ્રતિબદ્ધતાના પુરાવા પણ છે.
