Shri Narendra Modi lauds move to rename Chowk after Shaheed Bhagat Singh in Lahore 

Pakistan Govt renames Shadman Chowk in Lahore as Bhagat Singh Chowk. I congratulate them for this tribute to the martyr: Shri Modi

 

Shri Narendra Modi today lauded the move by the Pakistan Government to rename Shadman Chowk as Bhagat Singh Chowk in Lahore.

Expressing his views on Twitter, Shri Modi wrote, Pakistan Govt renames Shadman Chowk in Lahore as Bhagat Singh Chowk. I congratulate them for this tribute to the martyr.”

The present roundabout is the site of the erstwhile Lahore Jail where Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were hanged on 23rd March 1931 by the colonial rulers.

The demand for this move has been going for a long time now and it has been hailed on both sides of the border.

On several occasions, Shri Modi has expressed his admiration for the heroic deeds of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and has said that there is no youngster in the country who does not admire this proud son of Mother India.

Earlier, Shri Modi had said that the 150th Anniversary of the 1857 First War of Independence should be celebrated jointly by India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Prime Minister Highlights Sanskrit Wisdom in Doordarshan’s Suprabhatam

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today underscored the enduring relevance of Sanskrit in India’s cultural and spiritual life, noting its daily presence in Doordarshan’s Suprabhatam program.

The Prime Minister observed that each morning, the program features a Sanskrit subhāṣita (wise saying), seamlessly weaving together values and culture.

In a post on X, Shri Modi said:

“दूरदर्शनस्य सुप्रभातम् कार्यक्रमे प्रतिदिनं संस्कृतस्य एकं सुभाषितम् अपि भवति। एतस्मिन् संस्कारतः संस्कृतिपर्यन्तम् अन्यान्य-विषयाणां समावेशः क्रियते। एतद् अस्ति अद्यतनं सुभाषितम्....”
