Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi expressed shock over the death of pilgrims in a road accident and announced a compensation of Rs one lakh each to the kin of those killed. and Rs twenty five thousand to those injured. He expressed condolence to the bereaved families and spoke to officers about the tragedy.
At least Eighteen pilgrims lost their lives in tragic accident while they were on their way to Bhadiyad Peer Dargah at Dholka. Several others injured in this accident near Dholka in Ahmedabad after a truck ran over them, after losing control early on Thursday morning.
The incident took place at 3 am on Thurday morning near Bejwa crossroad, when the pilgrims, who were travelling on foot, were on their way to a Dargah in Bahdiyad and had stopped for the night to rest on the roadside. The injured persons were admitted to the V S Hospital in Ahmedabad.
