The authorities of Poglu primary school in Pratij, Sabarkantha, who were expecting senior government officials, as part of Gunotsav program, were shocked to see Chief Minister Narendra Modi walking in the school ground.

As the news spread, parents and other villagers including the sarpanch, rushed to the school. Shri Narendra Modi, in his nearly 40 minutes stayed in the school, talked to parents and even reprimanded them for not taking care of their children in the school.

After talking to students, Modi turned towards parents and asked the name of the teachers of their wards. Not many were able to give any information. He even asked the parents if their children did play in the school.

Failing to get a satisfactory reply, he reprimanded parents. Poglu village has a population of about 3,000 and a primary school. The Chief Minister refused to waste time on official welcome ceremony but devoted time for a small cultural program of the students. He also called upon teachers and the school principal to not only give weightage to the studies but also encourage children in extra-curricular activities.

He also asked women to form a committee and regularly talk to teachers. He advised them to keep a check on the quality of food supplied under the mid-day meal scheme.
