On the evening of Friday 28th March 2014 Shri Narendra Modi addressed a massive rally in Chhattisgarh’s Kondagaon. Commenting on the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Shri Modi said, “It is not that people are only voting for change. People want to vote to punish the Centre because UPA has looted and ruined the nation. There is immense anger among the people and they want to punish Congress.”He assured the people that the NDA government would devote all their time and resources for the development of India. “If a Rupee leaves Delhi, ever paisa must reach the people, such is the Government we need,” he said.
Shri Modi affirmed that the mood of the people is clear and highlighted the efforts made by people to prevent Modi from winning in the elections. “Do anything, Modi must not come…this is what they say but why are they so scared? Governments come and go why are you scared? They are scared because their sins are troubling them and they know where is their place after 16th May,” he stated.
Questioning the people on whether the Congress did any good for them in the last decade Shri Modi asked, “In 2004 they came to power but did anything good happen for you? Did the youth gain? Did women gain? Did villages gain? No, nothing happened.” Shri Modi described the Congress manifesto not as a ‘Ghoshna Patra’ (manifesto) but as a ‘Dhokha Patra’ (lies). He noted that the UPA has broken all records of corruption. He asked what is the reason why so many farmers have committed suicide and the silence of the UPA on the same.
Shri Modi praised the governance of Chhattisgarh CM, Dr. Raman Singh. He pointed, “There was time Chhattisgarh took rice from outside. Today this same state is sending rice to other states. This is how change can come. Change in agriculture, industry came, education, health, tribal development, all this has happened under Dr. Raman Singh.”
He was extremely critical of the policies of the Maoists. “Maoists have destroyed this land. Need of the hour is they understand the power of democracy. Blood can flow through bombs and guns but a new life cant. We want to make this land lush green, with holding ploughs, not red with people holding guns. For self-interests they have misled the youth. We have to live and let live.” He urged the people to vote in large numbers and show their faith in democracy.
