আসামে ভারতীয় কৃষি গবেষণা ইনস্টিটিউট (আইএআরআই) স্থাপনের অনুমোদন দিলো অর্থ বিষয়ক কেবিনেট কমিটি। আইএআরআই-আসাম কৃষি শিক্ষার স্নাতকোত্তর পর্যায়ে শিক্ষা প্রদানকারী উচ্চশিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান হবে। আইএআরআই-এর স্বীকৃতি দেওয়া ফসল, উদ্যানপালন ফসল, কৃষি বনায়ন, পশুচাষ, মৎস্য, হাঁস, শূকর, রেশম পালন, মধু উৎপাদন ইত্যাদিসহ কৃষিভিত্তিক সকল বিভাগ থাকবে।
