Gandhinagar, Thursday: Chief Minister Narendra Modi held a detailed discussion with a delegation of 24 senior executives of financial service sector of India and abroad about Gujarat Government's achievements in good governance and development vis-à-vis India's despondent moods and current problems here today.
The delegation was impressed by Gujarat's all round success stories, particularly Sardar Sarovar Project (SSP) on the Narmada, industrial development under GIDC and iNDEXTb, Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB), GIFT City. The visit to Gujarat was arranged by the noted Motilal Overseas Securities engaged in international financial sector. Gujarat's Chief Secretary A.K. Joti was present during the meeting.
During the question-answer session, Mr. Modi said “Gujarat is the solution. It has set the benchmark, parameters of development. It has shown its capacity to organize manpower, serve the people and delver goods, and it has the potential to show to the nation the way out. Gujarat's development model is praised by those who like as well as those who do not like Gujarat.”
He said that Gujarat has also shown the path of development in agriculture and animal husbandry in a predominantly agrarian country like India. He cited ‘Mission Mangalam' as a unique programme for empowerment of women and facelift the rural economy.
He cited Gujarat's Skill Development Programme, including upgrading Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in 976 trades in an unprecedented move. He also spoke about the State Government's initiatives for transparency and people's participation in government progammes.
