Cabinet approves Rs. One Lakh Crore Urban Challenge Fund to Drive Market-Led Urban Transformation

The Union Cabinet, chaired by PM Modi, has approved the launch of the Urban Challenge Fund (UCF) with a total Central Assistance of Rs. one lakh crore. This will lead to a total investment of Rs. four lakh crore in the urban sector over the next five years. The fund gives effect to the Government’s vision announced in Budget 2025–26 to implement proposals relating to Cities as Growth Hubs.

PM Narendra Modi and PM Lee Hsein Loong of Singapore held a joint press briefing. PM Modi said, India’s strongest well-wishers Prime Minister Lee is in the driving seat for Singapore and for our bilateral relationship. The PM said that trade and investment ties formed the bedrock of India-Singapore bilateral relationship. He added that in India's journey of economic growth and development, the country considered Singapore as a key partner.
