In his address to the nation on the occasion of India’s 74th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that one of the highest priorities of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat is an Aatmanirbhar agri-sector and an Aatmanirbhar farmer and we as a nation can never neglect this aspect.
He said that our farmers are now free to sell their produce to any corner of India with their discretion, which had never happened before. Farmer can sell their produce at their own terms.

He said that we are consistently working to double the farmer’s income, by minimising the input costs and taking steps towards making our 'Annadata as Urjadata'. He further added, “From value addition to food processing to packaging, we are committed to give a solid infrastructure to our farmers. Even during COVID crisis Government of India has allotted Rs.1 lakh crore for agri-infrastructure.”

Emphasising on strengthening the rural industries, he said that a prime focus will be given to economic clusters. FPOs will boost the economic empowerment of farmers.

Highlighting the Jal Jeevaan Mission, he said that per day we are providing piped drinking water to one lakh households. In last one year, two crore households have benefitted from the scheme. Jal Jeevan Mission is acting as a quick catalyst to co-operative and competitive federalism.
