PM Modi was conferred with the Brazil's highest honour 'The Grand Collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross' by Brazilian President Lula. In his remarks during the press meet, PM Modi thanked Brazilian President Lula for conferring Brazil's highest national award upon him. He wished India–Brazil relations to be as vibrant as Carnival, as passionate as football, and as heart-connecting as Samba. The PM affirmed that as two major democracies, India - Brazil cooperation is not only relevant to the Global South, but also to all of humanity.
