Cabinet approves 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas worth Rs.5862 crore

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by PM Modi, has approved the opening of 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) across the country, with an outlay of ₹5,862.55 crore for a period of nine years starting from 2026–27. These new KVs reflect a strong commitment to serving underserved and strategically important regions, while also creating employment opportunities.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved opening of 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas under Civil/Defence sector across the country and expansion of one existing KV i.e. KV Shivamogga, District Shivamogga, Karnataka to facilitate increased number of Central Government employees by adding two additional Sections in all the classes under the Kendriya Vidyalaya Scheme (Central Sector Scheme).
