PM Modi met Canada PM Mark Carney on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg. The two leaders welcomed the adoption of Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation (ACITI) Partnership and appreciated the renewed momentum in ties since their June 2025 meeting in Kananaskis. PM Modi extended an invitation to Canada PM to visit India.

PM Modi’s departure statement ahead of his visit to South Africa

PM Modi will visit Johannesburg, South Africa, from 21 to 23 November 2025, at the invitation of President Cyril Ramaphosa, to attend the 20th G20 Leaders’ Summit. This will be a particularly special Summit, given that it will be the first G20 summit held in Africa. During India’s Presidency of the G20 in 2023, the African Union had become a member of the G20.
