The two leaders welcomed the growing ties between the two countries and also discussed regional and global developments of mutual interest. They visited an art exhibition showcasing Varanasi’s rich culture and witnessed a yoga demonstration.

PM Modi paid tribute to Slovakia’s fallen soldiers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Bratislava. Accompanied by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, he laid a wreath at the memorial and honoured the brave soldiers who played a pivotal role in Slovakia’s liberation during World War II.

PM Modi held talks with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico on trade, defence, space, digital innovation, talent mobility, AI and supercomputing. Both leaders also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the recent India-EU Summit. The PM thanked Slovakia for its solidarity with India following the Pahalgam terrorist attack in 2025.

PM Modi’s departure statement ahead of his visit to France and Slovak Republic

At the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron and Slovak Republic PM Robert Fico, PM Modi will visit France and Slovakia from 13 to 18 June 2026. In the first leg of his visit to France, PM Modi will hold discussions with President Macron and jointly inaugurate the 'Bharat Innovates' event. In Bratislava, Slovakia, he will hold discussions with President Pellegrini and PM Fico. Later again in France, he will participate in the G7 Summit and VivaTech 2026.
