PM Modi and Japanese PM Ishiba held the delegation-level talks during which they recalled the longstanding friendship between India and Japan. The two Prime Ministers made a series of announcements focusing on three priority areas: bolstering defense and security cooperation, reinforcing economic partnership and deepening people-to-people exchanges.

Departure Statement by Prime Minister on the eve of visit to Japan and China

PM Modi will visit Japan from 29–30 August 2025 and China from 31 August–1 September 2025, at the invitation of Japanese PM Shigeru Ishiba and Chinese President Xi Jinping, respectively. In Japan, the PM will participate in the 15th India–Japan Annual Summit and hold discussions with Japanese PM Ishiba. In China, the PM will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence of Australia calls on Prime Minister Modi

PM Modi met the Deputy PM of Australia Richard Marles. The two leaders exchanged ideas to further strengthen the India - Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. They reviewed cooperation in key areas such as defence industrial collaboration, resilient supply chains, critical minerals, new and emerging technologies. Deputy PM Marles reiterated Australia’s support in India’s fight against terrorism.
