On Monday 17th September 2012 Vivekananda Yuva Vikas Yatra continued its journey from temple town of Ambaji. Speaking on the occasion Shri Modi said that the Congress has betrayed the spirit of democracy by being only bothered about getting votes to enjoy power. He added that it is because Gujarat kept the Congress at arms length for the past decade that it scaled new heights of progress.
The Chief Minister stated that the Gujarat Government has given a great impetus to development in the Ambaji to Umargam stretch that has a sizeable Tribal population and made it the fastest growing Tribal belt in India.
Shri Modi compared the anti-democratic mindset of the Congress with the people-centric approach of the BJP. He said that elections are a essential part of democracy and each party be it in Government or Opposition has the right to present the views in front of the people after which the people decide what they feel is correct. But, the Congress has eroded this spirit of democracy by repeatedly spreading lies. He added that if anyone speaks against the Congress its Government victimizes those people.
In his speech, the Chief Minister spoke against the rising prices in the rule of the Congress and its anti-people decisions of reducing LPG cylinders per household. He also took on the Congress for the rampant acts of corruption in their rule and said they have brought immense shame to India.
Shri Modi asked the audience whether they are satisfied with the development in Gujarat over the last decade to which the loud answer was in the affirmative. Yet, Shri Modi stated that all he has done is to undo the damage done in 40 years of Congress rule and that the future will be even better for Gujarat.
On the occasion Shri Modi announced creation of new district of Aravalli and a new Taluka of Poshina.
BJP President Shri Nitin Gadkari was also present on the occasion and he lauded the development in Gujarat under Shri Narendra Modi. He stated that the development of Gujarat has been noticed by the entire world. He also took on the UPA for their flawed policies.
